PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hull able to reduce resistance, particularly when running. SOLUTION: This hull is provided with the following: an air chamber 3 with the bottom surface open provided in a bow 1; a compressed air supply unit 4 that supplies air of a predetermined pressure to this air chamber 3; a through-waterway 6 of at least one opening which communicates the inside and outside of the air chamber 3 below the water line; and a valve 7 which closes the through-waterway 6 from within the air chamber 6 when the ship is stopped and opens the through-waterway 6 when the ship is running by differential pressure which acts on the inside and outside of the through-waterway 6. Part of the pressure acting on the hull is released from the through-waterway 6, reducing friction resistance while reducing waves made by the bow, thereby reducing generated wave friction.
