PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method for cleaning a deaeration membrane inexpensively and efficiently for a membrane deaeration module used for deaerating a coating liquid. SOLUTION: A coating liquid remaining in a membrane deaeration module is discharged by flowing acidic water of pH 4 or less or alkaline water of pH 10 or more, and then the acidic water of pH 4 or 1835 or alkaline water of pH 10 or more is flowed for 30 minutes or more to remove components adhered to a deaeration membrane from the deaeration membrane.
