PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide continuous printer and printing method in which correct finish of print is ensured even when a print data can not be stored in time for print sheet supply because of high speed printing. SOLUTION: The printer 1 comprising a print section 10 for printing different print contents continuously on a plurality of print sheets 9 based on a print data transferred from an external print data supply unit 8 is provided with a sensor 51 for detecting a print sheet 9 in the way of supply, and a circuit for making a decision whether a print data has been stored in first and second memories 41, 42 at the stage when the print sheet 9 is detected. If the print data has not been stored at the moment when a print sheet 9 is detected, a sheet guide plate 61 is raised in order to guide a print sheet 9 to a collection tray 63 and to guide a following print sheet 9 to the print section 10. According to the arrangement, a correct finished print is contained in a discharge tray 31 even when a print data can not be stored in time for print sheet supply.
