PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst converter and heat insulator which can cool the start/final ends by hitting a running wind to respective welded start/final end positions formed on the welded part of the catalyst converter during a vehicle running. SOLUTION: A catalyst converter 2 is provided with a catalyst upperstream cone 8, catalyst outer cylinder 9, catalyst downstream cone 11 and outlet flange. They are combined by welding the entire periphery of respective openings. The welded start/final end positions 16, 21, 25, 29 on respective welded parts 15, 20, 24, 28 are not formed on the outside of a ventilation surface 17. On this ventilation surface 17, the running wind is hit during the vehicle running.
