[Also in Division F2] The spacing of work rollers of a rolling mill is effected by rotating a screw 25 which has a concave end surface 26 engaging a convex end surface 32 of an upper race 3,0 of a roller thrust bearing. Taper rollers 29, which are positioned between the upper race 30 and a lower race 28, are retained by a peripheral flange 31 on the race 30. The bearing is mounted in a chock 23 and is retained therein by a cover-ring 33. In modifications, a cover-ring is attached to the bearing and is received in a peripheral groove of the screw; a packing is provided between the cover-ring and the upper race; a bearing mounted on the chock 23, Fig. 5 (not shown), is guided by members 13, 14 having rails 43 attached thereto which are engaged by bars 45 extending from a collar 47 connected to the lower race 28; and the concave and convex engaging faces may be arranged below the rollers. |
