An electric heater 11 controlled by a temperature sensitive element 22 connected in a bridge circuit 54 is arranged to be switched only at the current or voltage zero of the supply. A current or voltage transformer 88 produces through a rectifier 90, a Schmitt trigger circuit 84, 86 and a pulse generator 96 a voltage spike at each current or voltage zero at a coincidence circuit 74, 76 which when a low temperature out of balance signal from the bridge circuit 54 through amplifier 62 and bi-stable amplifier 36 is also present at transistor 74 triggers thyristors 106,108 through a transformer 78. By switching whole cycles, the circuit is stated to give less interference to other apparatus and to eliminate filters in the circuit.</p> |
