ORGANIC DISPERSION OF ULTRAFINE TITANIUM DIOXIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject dispersion affording high SPF level using low- grade titanium dioxide without using any dispersion auxiliary, and to obtain a cosmetic sunscreen composition with moderate SPF level freed from unacceptable heavy feeling, residual coloration and other undesirable characters each associated with a certain grade of titanium dioxide. SOLUTION: This organic dispersion is such one free from dispersion auxiliary, and comprise coated or non-coated titanium dioxide 10-100 nm in particle size before flocculated and a branched-chain-bearing organic compound acceptable in cosmetics. This dispersion is obtained by treating a mixture of the titanium dioxide and the organic compound so as to effectively disperse the titanium dioxide in the organic compound.
