PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge a lower leg space and also to suppress the forward and backward movement of the center of gravity with the height adjustment of a seat surface to min. by holding a link mechanism and a supporter between a connecting member for connecting left and right leg bases and a chair main body. SOLUTION: A chair is provided with the left and right leg bases 1 having front and rear casters 11 and 12. The connecting member executes connection in the neighborhood of the rear end parts 1b of the both leg bases 1. The base end parts 311a and 321a of link members 31 and 32 are pivotally supported by the connecting member. Together with it, the tip parts 311b and 321b of the link members 31 and 32 are positioned before the base end parts 311a and 321a in the link mechanism 3. The supporter 4 is supported by the tip parts 311b and 321b of the link members 31 and 32 in the link mechanism 3 and the chair main body 5 is supported by the supporter 4. In case the height of the chair main body 5 is adjusted, an operation laver H2 is operated, the operation end of a gas spring is pressurized and a piston shaft is enabled to be retractable as against a cylinder.
