PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effect mild solidification by solidifying, in the presence of an acidic substance, a mixture of a compound having epithio structure and a catalyst hardening the compound. SOLUTION: An acidic substance (pref. an acidic organic compound, esp. compound having phenolic hydroxyl group) is added to a mixture of a compound having epithio structure of the formula (R1 is a 0-10C hydrocarbon chain; R2 to R4 are each a 1-10C hydrocarbon group or H; Y is O, S, Se or Te; (n) is 0 or 1) (pref. e.g. a compound having two or more structures of the formula, specifically, organic compound having epithio groups, epithioalkyloxy groups, epithioalkylthio groups, epithioalkylseleno groups, epithioalkyltelluro groups, or the like) and a catalyst hardening the above compound (e.g. an amine, phosphine, a mineral acid, a Lewis acid, an organic acid, silicic acid, tetrafluoroboric acid) to effect the aimed solidification.
