PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic containing a cationic surfactant having excellent biodegradability and capable of giving good flexibility, etc., to hair by adding the specific cationic surfactant, a higher alcohol and a silicone. SOLUTION: This hair cosmetic contains (A) a cationic surfactant of formula I (R1 is a 7-37C alkyl or an alkenyl; R2 is a 2-5C alkylene; R3-R5 are each a 1-4C alkyl, an alkenyl or a hydroxyalkyl; X- is an anion) (for example, a compound of formula II), (B) a higher alcohol (for example, cetylalcohol), and (C) a silicone. Examples of the component C includes methylphenylpolysiloxane, an amino-modified silicone, a fatty acid-modified polysiloxane, an alcohol- modified silicone, an aliphatic alcohol-modified polysiloxane, an epoxy-modified silicone and a fluorine-modified silicone.
