PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the armature connected to an exhaust valve from repulsing from the electromagnet on the valve opening side attributable to the negative pressure inside the combustion chamber, and also to restrain the operating sound, during the execution of fuel-injection cut control with regard to the controller of a solenoid operated valve. SOLUTION: This solenoid operated valve 40 for driving a valve element 44 functioning as an exhaust valve is provided with an armature 74 connected to the valve element 44, an upper core 82 and an upper coil 80 arranged above the armature 74, and a lower core 86 and a lower coil 84 arranged below the armature 74. The valve element 44 is open or close driven by alternately supplying an exciting current to the upper coil 80 and the lower coil 84. During the execution of fuel-injection cut control, at the time of opening of the valve element 44, when the armature 74 is released from the upper core 82, the period of time for supplying a release current to the upper coil 80 is made longer than that at the normal operation.
