PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sharply print a pattern comprising a combination of a plurality of parts having heterogenous visual effect of a hue area of printing ink and a metal gloss area of a holograph by one process. SOLUTION: A pattern P is thermally transferred to the surface of an article to be printed by using a transfer film having a laminated structure wherein a release layer 11, a surface protective layer 12, a transfer layer 13 and an adhesive layer 14 are laminated on a film base material 10. The ink part 13i constituting the pattern P and a holograph part 13h are present in the transfer layer 13 in a mutually adjacent state and the contrast of the characteristics from an aspect of appearance of both parts is amplified. By forming the boundary surface of the surface protective layer 12 and the transfer layer 13 into an uneven state, the outer surface of the holograph part 13h shows light irregular reflecting effect. By allowing a metal membrane layer to be not present in the ink part 13i, the sharpness of a hue is kept.
