PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print even to papers exceeding a maximum printable breadth of an apparatus. SOLUTION: A paper transfer opening part 2 is provided at one side of a case 1a of a printing apparatus 1, through which a paper 8 of a larger breadth than a printable shuttle head stroke 3a can be inserted to be printed. Paper guide sensors are set to a paper platform 4 and a paper guide 5, detecting the breadth of the paper 8 thereby controlling printing in accordance with the breadth of the paper. When a leading end is inserted onto the paper platform 4 and the paper guide 5, the paper 8 is transferred and printing by a shuttle printing head 3 is started. If an insertion direction of the paper 8 is changed, a part not printed at a first printing can be printed.
