PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean a nozzle plate appropriately by laminating the wiping material and the rubbing material of a cleaning blade integrally, forming at least one parallel recess at the forward end face of the wiping material and adjusting elastic deformation to have an optimal angle using the recess. SOLUTION: A blade 11 is formed by laminating a wiping material 12 and a rubbing material 13 integrally through an adhesive layer into one plate which is bonded to a base 14 moving to the recording head side hen cleaning is performed. Since the wiping material 12 constituting the blade 11 exhibits a high rigidity to the blade 11, at least one parallel recess is made in the forward end face 11a thereof at a position where a groove 12a is bent at an abutting angle suitable for cleaning. When a carried is reversed as required and moved at the stage of ending the wiping operation, the blade 11 is deformed elastically with the groove 12a as a fulcrum and the rubbing material 13 abuts against the nozzle plate at an angle suitable for rubbing thus executing rubbing.
