<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate a waste plastic from a general waste from paper with a high efficiency by adding a predetermined amount of moisture to the general waste in which the paper and the waste plastic are mixed, and moisture absorbing from paper content of the waste to increase its apparent weight. SOLUTION: Water of about 30 to 50% by weight is added to a refuse obtained by mixing paper 14 comminuted to a predetermined large size by a comminutor 1 with a waste plastic 13 while passing a water adding unit 2. A mixture of the moisture absorbed paper 14 and the plastic 13 is dumped in an air table type separator 4, the paper 14 is recovered to a heavy article side and the plastic 13 is recovered to a light weight article side. The paper 14 and the plastic 13 have different moisture absorbing powers. Since only the paper 14 is changed in its apparent weight by the moisture absorption by adding the water before comminuting, they can be accurately separated. Thus, the paper 14 and the like in the general waste can be efficiently separated from the plastic 13.</p> |
