PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transfer properties to a body to be printed of high surface smoothness such as a synthetic paper, a film or the like and the durability of a printed matter by forming an acrylic modified polyester resin layer on an upper layer section of a thermal transfer melting ink layer at least on one face of a thermoplastic polymer film. SOLUTION: A thermal transfer ink ribbon is constituted of a base film formed of a thermoplastic polymer, a release layer, a hot-melt ink layer and an overcoat layer. The released layer on the base contains a copolymer composed mainly of an ester wax. The ink layer is composed of a coloring agent such as a dye, a pigment or the like and a binder material. For the overcoat layer, an acrylic modified polyester resin is used. As the acrylic modified polyester resin, a radical copolymer graft polyester resin having a polyester resin section as a main chain and a radical polymer section as a side chain is preferably used. |
