PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic ware with high glossy surface by providing the surface of a ceramic ware with a glaze layer having a kurtosis Rku lower than a specified value. SOLUTION: This ceramic ware is obtained by applying glaze stock microparticles (by spray coating, dip coating or the like) onto an unglazed ceramic ware base molded green form followed by burning at >=1,000 deg.C (when the green form is not sintered in advance) or at >=400 deg.C (when the green form is sintered in advance); wherein the kurtosis Rku of the surface of the resulting glaze layer on this ceramic ware is <2.70 (pref. <2.50); the glaze stock microparticles is prepared by grinding the corresponding glaze stock with a ball mill or the like so as to be <=1.5μm in D50, or by melting the corresponding glaze stock powder at >=1300 deg.C followed by grinding the resultant vitrified frit-like glaze stock; the glaze stock may be incorporated with silver, copper, titanium oxide, zinc oxide or the like in advance so as to be afforded with additional function(s) such as antimicrobial effect and/or hydrophilicity promotion. This ceramic ware is suitable as a sanitary ware, washbowl on a washstand, tile, tableware, pottery plate, and the like.
