PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the percent defective of the glass plate product by allowing a molten metal to flow into two first flow passages each extending in the cross direction with respect to the direction of movement of platelike glass, from a takeoff point (a position at which the platelike glass is drawn up so as to be separated from the molten glass), and two second flow passages each extending continuously from the corresponding one of the first flow passages toward the upstream side, and recycling the molten metal from the downstream side to the upstream side with respect to a float bath through two separate paths with two induction means (linear induction motors), in the production process. SOLUTION: A molten metal MM is stored in a float bath 20 and molten glass is formed into a ribbonlike glass plate GR on the bath surface of the molten metal MM in the direction from the upstream side to the down stream side and then, at a takeoff point TO, the glass plate GR is moved toward a draw - up annealing furnace. Also, this equipment is provided with two first flow passages 25 each extending in the cross direction with respect to the draw-out direction of the glass plate GR, two second flow passage 26 each communicated with the corresponding one of the first flow passages 25 and two linear induction motors 27. When each of the linear induction motors 27 is driven to excite a moving magnetic field, a recycle stream is effected and recycled to the upstream side of the float bath 20. Thus, any dross Dr is hardly retained in the vicinity of the takeoff point TO, to reduce percent defective of the glass plate GR and also, any pulsation or turbulence is hardly caused in each of the recycle streams.
