PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an automation of work or the like for obtaining an arithmetic mean of brain data by extracting a characteristic pattern from the individual (from a single trial) bran data. SOLUTION: There are a wavelet conversion means 13 to perform a wavelet transform of brain data in a single trial, a wavelet coefficient window means 15 to extract a specified region with a wavelet coefficient window from a wavelet coeffcient curve obtained by the wavelet transform and a brain wave data judging means 17 to judge the grain wave data depending on whether the specified region is extracted or not. Attention paid to all wavelet transform coefficients enables execution of the calculation of an arithmetic mean and the extraction of characteristic patterns during the peak latent period with minimized loss in information of original waveform data.
