PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plateless digital printer in which high reliability is sustained in the quality of a printed matter. SOLUTION: A printer 1 comprising a control computer 1b for transmitting a print data, and a plateless digital printing mechanism 1a is provided with a CCD camera 52 for picking up the content printed onto a print sheet 9 in the form of an image data, and a decision section 53 for comparing the print data with the image data and a decision is made whether the print is acceptable or not every time when each print sheet 9 is printed. When a defective print is detected, the print sheet 9 is collected into a collection tray 33b provided independently and printing is tried again onto a following print sheet 9. Consequently, only correctly printed sheets 9 are discharged sequentially into a sheet discharge tray 33a and high reliability can be sustained in the quality of a finished printed matter.
