PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct upset forging to another part of a material outside a die by inserting part of a material in a lower die so as not to deform the part. SOLUTION: In an upset forging method by which part of a forging material only is deformed, a part 10B not to be deformed is inserted from an insert hole 6 formed in forging faces 7A, 7B of a lower die 1 and is housed therein, a part 10A, which is protruded from the forging faces of the lower die and is deformed, is subjected to upsetting by the forging faces of the lower die and a forging face of an upper die.
