PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate the oxidative decomposition reaction of ozone in treatment removing a harmful component, an offensive smell component and a color component in water by diffusing ozone into treated water. SOLUTION: In a method for removing a harmful component, an offensive smell component and a color component in water by diffusing ozone into treated water, cresol is added to treated water. Either one of lower alcohol and acetone or both of them are added to the treated water along with cresol. Ozone is diffused into treated water in the presence of chlorine. As cresol added to treated water, p-cresol is used.
