<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the mechanical strength of a filter by integrally binding adsorbent particles with numerous the voids together through a specific filiform hot melt adhesive and molding the bound particles into a specified shape. SOLUTION: The filter 1 best suited for gas adsorption is composed of adsorbent particles 3 with numerous fine voids such as active carbon or zeolite and filiform hot melt adhesive. After the adsorbent particles 3 and the hot melt adhesive are uniformly mixed, the mixture is heated and pressed into a disclike shape using a mold. During molding, a non-woven fabric of a thermoplastic synthetic fiber is placed on the surface of the mold as a coating sheet 5. The active carbon to be used is, for example, of an 8-16 mesh size and the hot melt adhesive to be used is filiform with 13-300 aspect ratio (ratio of length to dia.), e.g. 4-15 mm length and 0.05-0.3 mm dia.</p> |
