PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lash adjuster capable of dissipating an oil film causing slipping in a short time, capable of being easily manufactured, and having low cost, in a lash adjuster for automatically holding a valve clearance constant by the axial movement of an adjust bolt having a serrate external thread. SOLUTION: A nut member 13 is fixed on the lower surface of a blocking end plate 11a of a lifter body 11, elasticity of an elastic body 17 is provided in an adjust bolt 16 screwed to an internal thread 15 of the nut member 13, and projecting performance is provided. The internal thread 15 and an external thread on the outer periphery of the adjust bolt 16 are formed into serrate shapes. An axial groove 22 is formed on the internal thread 15 to release oil film pressure to be generated between pressure side flanks from the groove 22 when the adjust bolt 16 is pressed in, and therefore, an oil film causing slipping is dissipated in a short time.
