PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve energy absorbing characteristics in relation to head injury level without enlarging pillar interior material inwardly, by providing a deformation space for energy absorbing body between inner panel and hollow energy absorbing body that is fixed to the inner panel and is arranged within the space for absorbing energy. SOLUTION: Deformation space 17 is provided between an inner panel 13 and an energy absorbing body 15, which is fastened to an installation seat 13' of the inner panel 13 with a screw 16. Plate thickness t1 of installation plane of the energy absorbing body 15 on the inner panel 13 side is made greater than the general thickness to prevent local deformation near the installation seat 13' from occurring during deformation of the energy absorbing body 15. With this structure, the energy absorbing body 15 is deformed by a head portion 2 crashing into the front pillar, and the absorbing body 15 is deflected in the deformation space 17 with the head portion 2 advancing further. Deformation stroke can be increased thereby without enlarging the energy absorbing body 15.
