摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lithographic base with superior physical properties and capable of being coated economically by including a hydrophilic layer containing a hydrophilic binder and TiO2 grains, and permitting the hydrophilic layer to be formed through cross-linking, and to have pores of over a specific volume or more. SOLUTION: A hydrophilic copolymer or a mixture, e.g. vinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, starch or modified starch, and the like is used by being cross- linked with a cross-linking agent as a hydrophilic binder for forming a hydrophilic layer on a pliable support body. In order to improve the mechanical strength and porosity of the layer, particles of titanium dioxide is added thereto. A total volume of the lithographic base pores is made larger than 0.0007 cm3/g. Suitably, a total volume of pores is made at least 0.0010 cm3/g. Also, the hydrophilic layer is allowed to contain a drying control chemical additive such as a low molecular polyatomic alcohol and a liquid amide.
