PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute investigation of a cause by a simple means at low cost when a trouble in a performance (operation time) of a printer occurs and to investigate the cause at a remote position away from a position where the trouble occurs. SOLUTION: A command and data from a host device is accumulated in a receiving buffer 1 and an editing section 2 reads the command and data in the receiving buffer 1 and analyzes it to develop it into dot data. The developed dot data is printed by a printer mechanism section 3. When the receiving buffer 1 is fully filled with the commands and data, a receiving buffer-full detecting means 4 detects that and the information is written to a recording medium 6 and/or the information of the receiving buffer-full detecting means 4 is indicated on an indication device 8.
