PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vulcanizable rubber composition excellent in workability, strength properties (covulcanization properties), gas permeability resistance, weathering resistance, ozone resistance and heat aging characteristics by compounding an ethylene-α-olefin-non-conjugated polyene random copolymer and a modified butyl rubber in a specific proportion, preferably together with an organic peroxide. SOLUTION: (A) an ethylene-α-olefin-non-conjugated polyene random copolymer and (B) a modified butyl rubber are compounded in a weight ratio of 95/5-5/95. As the component (A), is used a random copolymerization rubber comprising ethylene and a 3-20Cα-olefin and a norbornene compound containing a terminal vinyl group represented by the formula I or II (wherein n is an integer of 0-10; R1 and R3 are each H or 1-10C alkyl; and R2 is H 1-5C alkyl). The ethylene/α-olefin copolymer is preferably such that it molar ratio is 40/60-95/5 it iodine value is 0.5-30 g/100 g, and it intrinsic viscosity (at 135 deg.C, using decalin) is 0.5-7. The organic peroxide is preferably used in an amount of 0.0005-0.03 mole per 100 g of the sum of the component (A) and (B).
