A combination of a bearing (42) and a housing (30) for the bearing (42) in which the bearing has two substantially semi-cylindrical half-bearings (44, 46) retained in a corresponding housing part (32, 34) about a joint face split line (50) wherein the housing (30) has a locking plate (40) inserted in the joint face split-line (50). Two locking plates (40) extend radially inwardly to lie between opposed joint faces (36, 38) of the two bearing halves (44, 46). The locking plate reduces rotation of the bearing (42) with respect to the housing (30) without the need for a "notch" or "nick". The locking plate (40) may have holes for a securing bolt (60) and dowel (64). The locking plate end faces (70) may be coated with bearing material. The bearing may be used in an internal combustion engine. |
