[Also in Divisions F4 and H2] In a high voltage rectifier system comprising a transformer in a casing and associated semiconductor diodes and fuses, rigid conductive members 1 and 2 are mounted on the transformer casing by insulation 10, 11, the member 1 carrying the diodes 3 and the member 2 carrying the fuses 4, 41. Each pair of beams is separated by a conductive screen 8 which may contain metal inserts to provide magnetic screening. Controlled transductor cores 5 are disposed at the ends of the rigid members for voltage control. Each diode 3 is connected with a pair of series-connected fuses which have a plug-and-socket fitting with the member 2. Cooling fluid, e.g. oil or water, passes up and down the members through apertures 16 and is circulated by means of a pump through the transformer and a recooling plant. Bent metal tubing connects the beams together for the flow of coolant. Alternatively the beams may be provided with cooling fins.</p> |
