A gas producer for operation at high pressure has a water jacket, the inner shell of which has helical fins on the face inside the jacket to strengthen the shell. The fins are securely attached, e.g. by welding, to the shell, and extend to within 1 to 3 mm. of the outer shell, which is capable of withstanding the operating pressure thus providing a plurality of helical chambers in the jacket. The chambers lead to a steam chamber at the top which is connected by a pipe to a main pipe which conducts the gasifying agent to a point below a rotary grate at the bottom of the producer.ALSO:A reactor intended for operation at high temperatures and pressures comprises an outer pressure-resistant shell (1, see Figure, not illustrated) and an inner shell (2) which defines a reaction chamber. The space between the shells is a water jacket and steam-raising chamber, and the outer face of the inner shell has helical fins (7) which define compartments in the water jacket. A pipe connection (4) enables steam to be led from the jacket to a main pipe (5) by which steam is delivered to the bottom of the reaction chamber. |
