The machine is provided for packaging or boxing a specific type of citrus fruit, such as oranges, inside boxes, for marketing, in such a manner that, firstly, the citrus fruit are conditioned in order to form specific formats in layers, on which the inverted corresponding box is placed in order next and automatically to effect the movement which causes the box to be arranged normally, i.e. resting on its base, with the two layers of citrus fruit inside it. To this end, provision has been made for a bed 1 with a transmission chain 2 which entrains sheets 3 with holes 4 in which the citrus fruit are deposited, all the aforesaid in combination with the up/down and linear movements of a system of suction cups 8 which pick up citrus fruits from one sheet 3 and deposits them in another citrus-fruit container, in correspondence with a zone or device for receiving empty boxes 9 from a supply platform 10. <IMAGE>
