PURPOSE: A method for managing a package version in an ATM switching system is provided to manage a package version in an ATM switching system. CONSTITUTION: An operator inputs a version display command(DIS-PKG-VER) through an HMI(Human Machine Interface(401). A version management process in an LIOF(Loader In OMP Function) opens a version file in the OMP hard disk(402). The version management process reads the current and previous package version information from the opened version file(403). The version management process judges whether version information has been read successfully(404). If it is judged that package version information has been read successfully, the version management process displays package version information(405). In case that the version read failed, the version management process outputs an error message(406).
