摘要 PURPOSE: A pressing apparatus is provided to reduce birefringence by regulating a waveguide to have the stress in the vertical direction same as that in the horizontal direction. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber aligning section(106) couples optical fibers(100) to an optical device(102), and fixes the optical device(102) coupled with the optical fiber(100) to a mold-type case(104). A filler(108) is inserted on the optical device(102). A sealing section(110) prevents the filler(108) from leaking. A pressing plate(112) is positioned on the sealing section(110) to press the optical device(102). An upper plate(114) is connected with the case(104) through an overlying connectors(118), and regulates the position of the pressing plate(112) using a pressing unit(116) to adjust the magnitude of pressure. The pressing magnitude is regulated through the pressing unit(116) to remove birefringence.
