PURPOSE: A piston ring of an internal combustion engine is provided to form a compression ring and an oil ring in combination to easily assemble or disassemble, thereby reducing friction loss and minimizing the power loss. CONSTITUTION: A piston ring of an internal combustion engine includes first to third rings(14,16,18) mounted in combination in a single ring groove(8) formed on an outer peripheral surface of an upper part of a piston(2), wherein the first ring has a thickness which becomes smaller toward an outer periphery and is rounded at an upper part of the outer periphery, the second ring has a first slant part slanted right and having a free end part at an outer periphery, a second slant part extended from a lower end of the first slant part and slanted left, a third slant part extended from a lower end of the second slant part and slanted right, and a fourth slant part(26) extended from a lower end of the third end part and slanted left, and the third ring has a thick and rounded outer peripheral part.
