摘要 PURPOSE: A laser diode is provided to have the much effect current confining and high laser oscillation efficiency by effectively confining a current in a ridge structure and providing a laser diode which is easily manufactured, has a high reliability and a low characteristics variations during a manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: A board(200) is formed with a first electrode on a low surface. A laser oscillation layer(500) is formed on the top of the board(200). A lower cladding layer is provided between the laser oscillation layer(500) and the board(200). An upper cladding layer is formed on the top of the laser oscillation layer(500). The upper cladding layer includes a ridge injecting a current into a confined area of the laser oscillation layer(500). An upper electrode partially provides the ridge of the cladding layer with the current. The ridge of the upper cladding layer is additionally separated and formed on the first cladding layer and the second cladding layer. A current cut-off layer with a predetermined width and a predetermined interval is provided on both side of the lower part of the second cladding layer.
