PURPOSE: A reducing method for the weight of a radial tire is provided to uniformly distribute a stress in tire rubber, to reduce the mass moment of inertia applied to a rotating shaft with horizontal steering stability and to save materials for envelopment protection. CONSTITUTION: A radial tire contains more than one carcass layer(4) in a radius direction; a tread(1) forming more than one groove(9) and rib(8) in a circumferential direction; and at least two belt layers(2) outside the radius direction of the carcass layer. To reduce the weight of the radial tire, rubber in a side wall(5) is set in the same hardness as the hardness of rubber in the tread. The thickness of rubber in the side wall is set not to deteriorate horizontal steering stability caused by a product of the thickness multiplied by the hardness of rubber in the tread. Then, the thickness of rubber over a shoulder(7), the side wall and a bead unit(6) is changed smoothly.
