PURPOSE: A VCU(Video Channel Unit) in an FLC-C(Fiber Loop Carrier-Curb) system is provided to offer video service to subscribers using an ATM network in an FLC-C system. CONSTITUTION: A VCU in an FLC-C system consists of an ATM layer unit(210), a physical layer unit(220), a VPI conversion unit(230), a microprocessor(240), and a control unit(250). The ATM layer unit(210) is connected to a 32-bit cell bus(280). The physical layer unit(220) is connected with subscribers through a UTP(UnTwisted Pair) interface. The microprocessor(240) carries out communication with an IPC channel(290). The ATM layer unit(210) executes a routing function to an ONU(Optical Network Unit) using VPI/VCI values located in the header portion of a cell identified in the physical layer unit(220), its reverse function, and the multiplexing/demultiplexing functions of ATM cells.
