PURPOSE: A brake system is provided to cool a brake pedal and a disc while operating and to double brake power for a sudden stop. CONSTITUTION: A brake system consists of a pair of push rods(22,32); a first booster(23) and a main master cylinder(24) compressed by the first push rod; a wheel cylinder(41) connected to the main master cylinder; a lever(43) hinged in both sides of the wheel cylinder with a hinge pin(42); an auxiliary cylinder(45) embedding a piston(46) in the end of the lever; a brake pad(48) installed in the end of the auxiliary cylinder; a second booster(33) and a second master cylinder(34) compressed by the second push rod; a second hydraulic line(35) connecting the second master cylinder and the auxiliary cylinder; an electronic control valve(36) installed in a joint between the second hydraulic line and the auxiliary cylinder; a return line(51) connecting the auxiliary cylinder and a second reservoir tank(37); an electronic control valve(53) installed in the return line; a compressor(52) installed between the electronic control valve and the second reservoir tank; and an ECU(electronic control unit) controlling the electronic control valves. The control unit opens the electronic control valve(36) to move the piston for cooling the frictional portion between the pad and a disc(60) with air from the piston. At that time, the electronic control valve(53) is closed. During a sudden stop, the ECU closes the electronic control valve(36), opens the electronic control valve(53) and operates the compressor. Then, the disc and the brake pad are stuck together to increase brake power by maximally moving the piston backward.
