This is a road safety system using the application of the modulated infrared-beam technique, consisting of three basic elements, namely: a modulated infrared-beam emitter on a fixed base 3, a modulated infrared-beam receiver on a land vehicle 4, and the actual infrared beam 2. The beam creates a field of incidence which activates the vehicle's receiver when the vehicle crosses it, alerting the driver to the relevant event. Its application will be in the movement of vehicles on any type of highway, with the object of warning the driver of dangers, events or any other traffic condition that the driver may not be aware of because he is distracted or sleepy, or because there is a lack of visibility, fog, etc. Warnings may be: STOP SIGNALS, RAMP SIGNALS, URBAN AREA SIGNALS, ETC., preventing possible accidents. <IMAGE>
