METHOD FOR PERFORMING A RAID STRIPE WRITE OPERATION USING A DRIVE XOR COMMAND SET

PURPOSE: A method for recording a stripe in a raid controller is provided to offer a method for using a disk drive having a XOR command set for a stripe recording calculation by reducing the number of I/O calculations and enhancing a performance of a RAID serve system. CONSTITUTION: Stripe data to be posted to a disk array are received by operating in a RAID controller for posting dirty data from a cache memory to a disk drive of a RAID device(400). A simultaneous recording calculation to the all data disk drive of a RAID device is started(402). A completion of simultaneous recording command with respect to a data disk drive of the disk array is waited(404). If all recording calculation generated to the disk array by the RAID controller is completed, a re-construction XOR calculation on a parity disk drive with respect to a block responded to a stripe recoding requesting is started(406). A completion of a re-construction XOR command with respect to the parity disk drive is waited(408).
