PURPOSE: A method for forming an optic alignment layer in a liquid crystal display is provided to simplify an optic alignment layer formation process and minimize the loss of exposure light by making an optic alignment layer aligned by non-polarized light. CONSTITUTION: Azo main-chain polyamic acid is applied on a glass substrate(2), on which transparent electrodes are formed, and is heated at about 70 to 90 deg.C so that an optic alignment layer(4) can be formed. When the optic alignment layer(4) is exposed to a non-polarized ultraviolet or laser source(10) at an arbitrary angle slantly, the intensity of the luminous source(10) on the surface of the exposed optic alignment layer(4) shows that the light intensity(Is) of a component horizontal to the incident side of the luminous source(10) gets different from the light intensity(Ip) of a component vertical to the incident side of the luminous source(10).
