PURPOSE: A synthetic method of soluble poly(1,4-phenylenevinylene)(PPV) derivatives capable of emitting green light and easily dissolving in an organic solvent and an electroluminescent element using the same are provided. Therefore, the final polymer shows a measured absolute PL quantum efficiency of 60% much higher than that of the conventional PPV having 25%. Also, it provides an outstanding advantage that it can be applied to a flexible light-emitting device. CONSTITUTION: A magnesium is added to 2,5-dibromo-para-xylene to give a Grignard reagent and then halotrialkyl silane to give 2,5-bis(trialkylsilyl)-para-xylene, which is reacted with N-bromosuccinimide to give 2,5-bis(trialkylsilyl)-1,4-bis(bromomethyl), which is reacted with a base to give £2,5-bis(trialkylsilyl)-1,4-phenylenevinylene|. The obtained compound makes it possible to be applied as material of an electroluminescent element.
