PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect carbon component in carrier gas before measurement and determine whether measurement is possible or not by the carrier gas. SOLUTION: Solenoid valves SV1, SV2 are connected to the oxidation reaction part 32 side, and carrier gas is supplied from a carrier gas supply part 40 to the oxidation reaction part 32 to convert the carbon component contained in the carrier gas to CO2. The gas is sent to a CO2 detecting part 46, and the detection output is recorded as a base line in a recorder 62. Secondly, the solenoid valves SV1 and SV2 are switched to the bypass passage 45 side not to pass the carrier gas through the oxidation reaction part but to send the carrier gas to the CO2 detecting part 46, and the detection output is recorded as a test indication value in the recorder 62. The base line and the test indication value are compared to obtain the influence of the carbon component in the carrier gas on the base line, and it is determined whether the measurement is possible or not by the carrier gas.
