PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce current consumption at FM reception in an AM/FM receiver. SOLUTION: At the time of AM reception, an AGC voltage forming circuit 19 forms an AGC voltage from the output signal of an AM detecting circuit 17, this AGC voltage is supplied to an AM intermediate frequency(IF) amplifier 116 as the control signal of its gain, and AGC is loaded. The AGC voltage is supplied to a tuning display circuit 19, and tuning is displayed. At FM reception, an FM IF signal is supplied to a level-detecting circuit 31, and a reception level is detected. This signal is supplied to a tuning display circuit 24, and tuning display and muting are performed.
