PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system, capable of selecting optimum communication means and broadcasting station, when transferring information from an information providing center to a moving object. SOLUTION: A moving object 10 is provided with two-way communication equipment 11 for communicating with an information providing center 15, an information processor 13 for communicating request information required for a user via the two-way communication equipment 11 to the information which provides center 15 and presenting answer information corresponding to that request information to the user, and broadcasting reception equipment 12 for receiving the answer information broadcasted from a broadcasting station 16. In this case, the information providing center 15 generates the answer information to the request information sent from the moving object 10, selects the broadcasting station 16 which defines the position of the moving object detected on the side of moving object 10 or information providing center 15 as a service area corresponding to that position, and the answer information is broadcasted from the selected broadcasting station 16.
