PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk case capable of being set to a case holder even through the disk case is placed upside down when setting to a player from the left and right direction, and a disk cartridge with a recording medium housed in this disk case. SOLUTION: The position of the forefront edge part 1451 of a shutter 145 in the forward direction is the same as the positions of the forefront edge parts 120-R1, 120-L1 of the right edge part 120-R and left edge part 120-L of an upper half 12 of the main body case, and is also the same as the positions of the forefront edge parts 130-R1, 130-L1 of the right edge part 130-R and left edge part 130-L of a lower half 13. The parts of the front edge parts 24, 30 of the upper half 12 and lower half 13 are drawn back to the rear side from these forefront edge parts 1451, 120-R1, 120-L1, 130-R1 and 130-L1. The gap 123-R is formed between the forefront edge part 120-R of the right edge part 120-R of this upper half 12 and the forefront edge part 130-R1 of the right edge part 130-R of the lower half 13. Also, the gap 123-L is formed between the forefront edge part 120-L1 of the left edge part n120-L of the upper half 12 and the forefront edge part 130-L1 of the left edge part 130-L of the lower half 13.
