At this time, the optical path L of the laser light from a laser 6 to the reading head 7 and the optical path F of a part for extracting the detected fluorescence from the reading head 7 are each arranged in parallel with the direction of the movements of the reading head 7. The detected fluorescence is converted into electric signals by photomuitipliers 12 and 16.
