PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumption of a battery and also eliminate troublesomeness of setting a camera in a remote control mode by switching a mode from a low power consumption mode to an ordinary operation mode, based on the reception of a remote control signal and starting photographing operation. SOLUTION: When the battery B has been loaded in a battery chamber, a DC/DC converter 2 is boosted and a high-speed clock is started to move in a CPU 1. After waiting for the stabilization of the boosting of the converter 2, the CPU 1 is set to the low power consumption mode of a low-speed clock. When the remote control signal is transmitted from a remote control transmitter 4 to a remote control light receiving unit 5, the CPU 1 starts the ordinary operation mode of the high-speed clock. When the remote control signal is a custom code corresponding to this camera, the CPU 1 judges whether or not the mode is a self mode, continuously. When it is not the self mode, photometry is performed by a photometric unit 6 and range-finding is performed by a range-finding unit 7 so as to arithmetically operate photographing data such as lens feeding amount.
