PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silent chain capable of preventing noise of inner plates sliding on guide plates as well as abrasion of the sliding portion of a chain guide member and a tensioner and enlarging the application range to a silent chain driving device much more and also excluding the noise of the inner plates and the guide plates by making them smoothly slide on the circumference of sprocket bosses and maintaining the usable life of the sprocket for a long time. SOLUTION: A silent chain composed by mutually connecting inner plates 10, 20 including a pair of link teeth engaging with sprocket gears to guide plates 30 guided along the lateral of the sprocket gears by means of pins 40 is provided with almost flat sliding faces 11, 21 where the end part of link gears position within the identical plane when the chain is stretched. The silent chain is formed by positioning these sliding faces 11, 21 within the plane identical with a sliding face 31 facing the inner circumference side of the guide plate 30 chain.
